Aro Markets - take two!

This weekend we have a table at the Aro Markets again - fingers crossed we have better this time (although if it's anything like today the markets will be a no go!).

This time I will be table hopping as well - working our Mofire stall and also helping out with the second hand clothes and zines on the Muse stall.

So one last shout out to all my Wellington friends - any clothes lurking about that you no longer want - please send them my way! It's for a good cause!

Someone has build a cave in the hill next to our house...

Yes - strange goings on in the hill next to our house.....for those of you who don't know Rich and I live on the top of a hill up a big flight of stairs (if you're coming from Aro Valley anyways) and on the park of the hill just beyond the stairs someone has dug some holes (one so big it's covered up with boards!) and cut out a track to access said holes...it's slightly worrying - Rich went and investigated the scene today and we are sure it's nothing to do with the council because there are no signs or anything up....it is a bit worrying....oh well we will have to keep an eye on it and see what else happens...

It's my favourite time of the year in Wellington - International Film Festival Time!

Yes - International Film Festival time is always my favourite time of the year. I've heard of people taking leave during the film festival so they can watch more films...I have to say I don't find that idea completely silly...anyways...here's the website! Yah for obscure films;)

I blame Katrina for my Facebook addiction

I can admit it - I am officially addicted to facebook - and it's entirely Katrina's fault!

I have been a member of so many other things like this before - Ringo, Bebo, WAYN - but none of them were very fun or interesting - but a website where you can become a virtual vampire or zombie and bite all you mates - well that's something I like:)

Plus my best friend from high school, Lillian, has hunted me down via facebook! Yah! She's living in Hong Kong now so perhaps I can see a trip to Hong Kong in my future? As long as Lillian is prepared to show me the ropes that is;)

Thanks Celia & Simon!

My friends Celia and Simon are back from their honeymoon to the States yesterday and ironically (isn't this always the way) their postcard arrived yesterday! But I love the postcard - yah!!

I also got a text from Ross in Barcelona on Monday saying happy birthday - a wee bit late but it's the thought that counts:)

Also, Jess is leaving for a few days in Sydney on Friday - I seriously have to get myself some travel sorted soon!

Loving my new Sportswide Gym!!

So this morning is my third morning at Sportswide - my brand new "grown up" gym on the Terrace and I am really loving it!

For the first time in years I feel challenged at the gym which is so awesome - my programme is quite hard but it's seriously the kick in the pants I need!

Looking forward to actually getting some level of fitness back - whoop whoop!

Charlotte's visit

Over the weekend my visit came down to visit from Auckland - it was awesome to see her and awesome just to have a weekend of girly hanging out.

It was also kinda cool to show someone from out of town all my Wellington haunts - we had brunch at Midnight Expresso, did and bit of shopping - including of course the Illicit shop (where I bought shoes with pink poka dots!) and had dinner at Harem followed by a (rather violent) film festival film at Paramount.

We also had lots of time to gossip about life in general - yah!
Even managed to sneak in a bit of a walk along the waterfront with Ange.
A very fun weekend:)

Flowers at work - how exciting!!

My birthday may have been yesterday but today at work I got flowers from my lovely friend Karen! Yah! Thanks girl!

Finally a new gym membership!!

So my uni gym membership expired a week after I returned from Raro and then I got sick and then I got lazy so today I did something I should have done weeks ago and joined a gym.

But for the first time ever I decided I should do things right - so instead of joining a student gym where they give you a card and tell you to go for it I joined "Sportswide" so on Wednesday night I am meeting with a personal trainer to talk about my goals and what not and also going to talk to a nutrionist as well...

So hopefully should be back on track - just need some inspiration with exercise right now so hopefully this is the kick up the butt I need to get me motivated again!

Sorry no birthday photos or birthday adventures just yet....

Hello world - as most of you know it was my birthday yesterday (Yah!) and my party Saturday night (Yah!) and yes there are lots of photo's of said adventures but right now I am spending my evenings sorting out my applications for "Ship for World Youth" (cultural exchange) which closes this Friday - so not much time outside of work to do much else and posting photo's is very time consuming (particulary when you're still on dial up!) but never fear they will be up sometime soon:)

We are all sorted for The Cure

Last night Rich and I bought our plane tickets to fly to Auckland and see The Cure - so we are now all sorted:)

All we have to do is find a way to entertain ourselves in Auckland for a whole day on the Tuesday of the gig (going up Monday night) - I'm thinking vintage shopping on K road and Cherry bomb comics (feminist book store) for me;)

SEW SUBVERSIVE!!

So as lots of you know already - it's my birthday very shortly - I was in a bookshop the other day and I found the perfect birthday present for me - so I bought it!! It's a book called "Sew Subversive".

I have been getting into sewing lately (because I thought it was about time I learnt to sew) this book is a very cool sewing book - but it's more about altering the clothes you already have - like making legwarmers out of an old jersey and a boob tube out an an old t-shirt. I'm very excited and can't wait to get started on some of the projects.

Here's the link to the book - but it doesn't tell you too much else - but it does give you a glace at the pretty cover:)

Last Saturday night Rich and I braved the freezing cold Wellington weather and went along and checked out ZOMBIE PROM at Happy - we did also dress up in appropriate Zombie Style...

This was my favourite part of my costume - my bright pink and black zombie tights - complete with rips and blood. Happy Zombies!

Striking a Zombie pose....brains....mmmm.....brains......

WE ARE SEEING THE CURE!!

I can finally get excited as we FINALLY have tickets to THE CURE!!

My very lovely friend Sue went and bought tickets for Rich and I and her and Conor yesterday - so we'll all be going to see The Cure in August...woohoo!!

My leave is also all sorted - the only thing we need to do now is book flights to Auckland and we are all set:)

WAHOO!! CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IM GOING TO SEE THE CURE!

Aro Markets a wash out!!

Well they weren't quite a wash out but it was raining on and off and people's stock was getting all wet so the markets were cancelled and we are now at home!!

But nevermind - it gives us some time to work on our costumes for ZOMBIE PROM tonight!!

But OMG it is so so freezing today - brrrr.....I think it may be time for HOT CHOCOLATE soon.

First Birthday Present!!

Yesterday when I got home I had my first birthday present from Ally in Melbourne!!

But I have been very good and I'm not opening said present to my actual birthday - which is coming up really quickly it seems...I can't believe that my birthday is only a couple of weeks away.

I other birthday related news my friend Carolyn from New Plymouth my now be coming down for my birthday..wahoo!!

I also found out my friend Charlotte from Auckland is coming down the week after my birthday - so lots of visitors are coming - yah:)

Bye Bye Ross - for 6 weeks

Last night Rich and I went over to Ross' flat for dinner to say bye bye for now as Ross is about to leave on his 6 week trip around Europe.

He showed us some of the information he had about his contiki trip and it sounds pretty cool! I'm very jealous!

I wonder where I will get a postcard from?

Tickets for the Cure on sale on Monday!!

I am very excited - I read on the internet ages ago a couple of guys from New Plymouth had started a petition to get The Cure to stop for a gig in New Zealand on their world tour....because like so many great bands they were going to Australia but not New Zealand:(

But due to said petition The Cure are now coming to New Zealand - wahoo!! All Rich and I have to do now is make sure we get tickets....so one of us will have to be at a computer next Monday when they go on sale at 9am. I would be so gutted if I missed out on tickets - so fingers crossed we get some!

Shopping Saturday

This whole weekend has been an absolute shocker weather wise - I don't mind the cold or wind but when it just doesn't seem to stop raining I do really start to get "over" it.

Given the pretty awful weather Kat and I decided to spend Saturday out and about shopping in town - I mostly wanted to go to the second hand shops to see if I could find a relatively cheap dress to cut up and destroy for zombie prom. Unfortunatly I had no luck on that front - but I have since cut up and destroyed some stuff I already owned for zombie prom.

It was good to get out and about and have a look about town though (plus gets lots of exercise with all the walking!). Plus I also managed to get some bargins - like a Misery shirt for $30 and also scoped out a few things I want for my birthday which is only a couple weeks away now......I'm not sure if I'm prepared to be 28!

Ange's Birthday Dinner

On Saturday night a whole bunch of us went out to celebrate Ange's birthday with dinner at "Longboat" and then cocktails at Monsoon Poon. Here's some photo's of the gang hanging out at Longboat:)
